Why we publish a page for every area

Because the answer genuinely changes from one part of the county to the next, and for reasons that have more to do with the housing and the routing than distance.

The most consequential is disposal. Every area we serve is in Livingston County, which has no landfill of its own, so your debris is hauled to a licensed facility outside the county - and we already know that routing. It is the same for every community, but it means a local hauler saves you the multi-stop problem wherever you are.

The second is the housing. The newer subdivisions across Genoa, Oceola, Hartland and Green Oak give up bulky, light material that wants a larger container; the older downtown Howell, Brighton and Fowlerville homes give up dense debris that wants a smaller one; and the lake and rural properties are a category of their own.

The rest is common to the whole county: the city and township curbside services that take only one bulky item a week, the Michigan yard-waste ban, and the glacial clay that needs its own box. Each area page below covers the access, the routing and what to expect on the ground.
